General
Is this official Bosch software?
No. Bosch 6000 Programmer is independent software. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or supported by Robert Bosch GmbH or Bosch Security Systems. For official tools and support, contact Bosch.
Which panels does it work with?
Bosch Solution 6000 panels. To read from or send to a panel, it must be reachable over IP from the PC, the same way Solution Link connects.
Does it replace Solution Link?
For most day-to-day programming, yes. It edits the full Solution 6000 field set and can import your Solution Link sites. Sending to a panel covers zones, users, areas, outputs, doors, keypads, holidays, time zones and the IPRS reporting path. Receivers, wireless/LAN/GSM/serial device settings, key fobs, card/token IDs and most system options can't be sent yet. The preview lists them before every send, so keep Solution Link handy for those.
Can it damage a panel?
Sending always starts with a preview of exactly what will be written. Each field is then read back and checked, and anything that couldn't be written is reported. As with any programming tool, check the panel before you leave site.
Is it finished?
It's in beta: in daily use and tested against a real panel, but still being extended. The Client edition's live status is still being built.
Licensing & PINs
Who can get a PIN?
Installers and technicians who work on Solution 6000 systems (Programmer), and owners or managers of a site (Client). PINs are issued by Gentex AU, at its discretion, and can be revoked.
Who makes and who runs this software?
Can I use one PIN for both editions?
No. Programmer and Client PINs are separate, and each only works in its own edition.
Can I share my PIN or use it on two PCs?
No. A PIN works only on the PC (or PCs) it was issued for. If it's tried on another PC, it's refused and the attempt is recorded. If you need it on another PC, ask and we'll raise its limit or issue another PIN.
Why does it need the internet?
The licence is checked online when the app starts and every few minutes while it runs. That's how PINs can be issued and withdrawn. If the connection drops, the app locks after a short grace period and unlocks again once it can check.
I have a new PC or reinstalled Windows. What now?
Both count as a new PC. Ask us to reset your PIN, then enter it again on the new install.
What does the licence server record?
The PC each PIN is activated on: computer name, Windows user name, app version and IP address, plus refused attempts. Nothing from your sites or panels is sent. See the privacy notes.
Installing & updating
Do I need administrator rights?
No. Both installers install for the current Windows user only.
Windows says "Windows protected your PC". Is that OK?
Yes, if you downloaded it from this site. The installers are signed with Vantic's own certificate, which Windows doesn't recognise yet, so it shows "Unknown publisher". Choose More info, then Run anyway, and check the SHA-256 on the Download page if you want to be sure.
How do updates work?
Automatically. When a new version is released, the app tells you this version is no longer supported and asks you to upgrade. Press OK and it downloads the new version from the licence server, checks it, installs it and reopens by itself. There's nothing to download yourself. Older versions stop working until they're updated.
Will updating lose my sites?
No. Your sites, backups and settings are kept when the app updates, and uninstalling leaves them in place too.
Can I move my sites to another PC?
Yes. Save a backup in Settings and restore it on the other PC. Restoring always adds it as a new site.
Client edition
What does the Client show?
Today it connects to the site's panel and lists its areas and zones. Live open/closed and armed/disarmed status is still being built and shows as "unknown" until it's ready.
Where does the site profile come from?
The installer makes it in the Programmer: Settings → Client profile → Export client profile. It's a .b6kprofile file holding the panel's details, with the remote-access (RAS) code encrypted.
Can the Client change anything on the panel?
No. The Client is read-only and has none of the Programmer's tools.
